Hazzard meets British Shadow Secretary on International Trade over Bombardier jobs
Sinn Féin MP Chris Hazzard has today met with British Shadow Secretary on International Trade, Barry Gardiner MP, following the US Department of Commerce decision to impose huge interim tariffs on Bombardier, putting thousands of local jobs into uncertainty.
“Today's meeting with Barry Gardiner MP was an opportunity to raise the deep concerns held by workers here over the uncertain future of their jobs.
"I stressed that, whatever the outcome of this international dispute, the lives and livelihoods of employees must be protected.
"This issue demands a more focused and determined response from the British government.
"The US Department of Commerce ruling is a blow to the many families and workers who face an uncertain future.
“Sinn Féin have been working tirelessly to safeguard the jobs and welfare of the workers concerned."
