“Ag Taobhú Leat” – Buiséad Malartach Shinn Féin seolta inniu – Peadar Tóibín

3 October, 2017 - by Peadar Tóibín TD

Seoladh Buiséad Malartach Shinn Féin 2018 inniu inár leagadh amach na roghanna a dhéanfadh an bpáirtí más rud é gur rabhadar i gcumhacht. Tá na costais in san mbuiséad deimhnithe ag an Roinn Airgeadais agus an Roinn Caitheachais Phoiblí agus Athchóirithe. Tá maoiniú breise molta ag Sinn Féin don Ghaeilge agus don Ghaeltacht.

Dúirt an Teachta Tóibín:

“Tá Sinn Féin ar thaobh na gnáth daoine agus is léir ón mbuiséad seo go bhfuilimid ag díriú ar feabhas a chur ar an gcóras sláinte, tithíochta agus costasaí cúram leanaí a laghdú.

"Creidimid go mbainfeadh saoránaigh an stáit seo níos mó tairbhe as infheistíocht rialtais in ospidéil, i scoileanna agus i dtithe in áit na pinginí breise atá geallta acu tríd ciorruithe cánach.

“D’fhulaing an Ghaeilge agus na ceantair Gaeltachta go mór le roinnt blianta anuas de bharr ciorruithe uafásacha - scriosfadh bhuiséid caipitil Údarás na Gaeilge mar shampla.

"Le déanaí feictear dúinn go bhfuil an rialtas tar éis loic ar na geallúintí a rinneadar maidir le maoiniú cuí a thabhairt dos na limistéar pleanála teanga lena bpleananna a chur i bhfeidhm.

“Tá Sinn Féin chun €5 milliúin a thabhairt don phlean infheistíocht sa Ghaeilge agus sa Ghaeltacht atá curtha le chéile ag Conradh na Gaeilge.

"Tá €5 milliún á thabhairt againn do chiste reatha Údarás na Gaeilge agus €5 mhilliúin don chiste caipitil. Tá €4 milliúin á thabhairt againn don phleanáil teanga.

“Tá an t-airgead seo atá luaite sa bhuiséad againn anuas ar chaiteachas an rialtais. Tá €2 milliúin sa bhreis á thabhairt againn leis an bPolasaí don Oideachas Gaeltachta a mhaoiniú i gceart de bharr nach bhfuil ach milliúin geallta ag an rialtas ina thaobh.

"Tá €1.3 milliúin á thabhairt againn le tús a chur ar ionad traenála lán Ghaeilge a bhunú do hábhar mhúinteoirí. Tá suas le trí mhilliúin tugtha againn le cultúrlann a bhunú ar Shráid an Mhúraigh.

“Léiríonn Sinn Féin go bhfuil bealach eile le rudaí a dhéanamh sa tír seo – agus gur féidir cothrom na féinne a thabhairt do chách, lucht labhartha na Gaeilge agus muintir na Gaeltachta ina measc.”

“On Your Side” – Sinn Féin’s Alternative Budget launched today – Peadar Tóibín TD

Sinn Féin’s 2018 Alternative Budget was launched today which set out the choices that the party would make if in power. The budget has been costed by the Department of Finance and the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform. Sinn Féin has put forward proposals for additional funding for Irish language and the Gaeltacht.

Speaking today, Teachta Tóibín said;

“The Irish language and the Gaeltacht regions suffered a lot in recent years because of awful cuts – the capital budget of Údarás na Gaeltachta was destroyed for example.

"Recently we can see that the government are after reneging on the promises they made as regards providing the Language Planning Areas with sufficient funding with which to implement their plans.

“Sinn Féin will put €5 million towards the plan for investment in the Irish language and Gaeltacht that was put together by Conradh na Gaeilge. We will be giving €5 million towards the current budget of Údarás and another €5 million for its capital budget.

"We will be giving €4 million towards language planning.

“The money that we make reference to in our budget is additional to government expenditure. We will be giving €2 million extra to adequately fund the Policy on Gaeltacht Education to which the government has pledged only €1 million.

"We will be giving €1.3 million towards establishing an immersive Irish language teacher training college. We have provided up to three million for the establishment of an Irish language centre on Moore St.

“Sinn Féin have demonstrated that there are other ways of doing things in this country – and we can deliver equality to everyone – Irish speakers and those belonging to the Gaeltacht community included.”
