Glidernew welcomes £40 million for health

13 October, 2017 - by Colm Gildernew

Sinn Féin MLA Colm Gildernew has welcomed the public confirmation of a £40 million cash injection for health.

The Fermanagh South Tyrone MLA was speaking after he and party colleague John O’Dowd met the Southern Health and Social Care Trust today.

Colm Gildernew said:

“Sinn Féin welcomes the allocation of an additional £40m to health.

“This announcement will go some way to redressing the pressures on the health service.

“It was Sinn Féin’s position from the beginning that the consultation process was an unnecessary and politically motivated move, which only succeeded in creating division and concern within the wider community.

“Sinn Féin remains committed to transforming and modernising our Health Service.

“However, the threat of Tory austerity continues to loom. The DUP should end their unconditional support for these Tory attacks on public services and the most vulnerable in society.”
