‘Governments must fulfil their responsibilities’ - SF

23 October, 2017 - by Conor Murphy

Both governments must honour their responsibilities to citizens and previous agreements if there is to be a resolution in the Stormont talks, Sinn Féin MLA Conor Murphy has said.

Speaking from Stormont, the Sinn Féin negotiator commented: “Talks have resumed and, as we made clear last week, time is running out.

“I strongly suspect that the two governments are preparing a paper that will be less than what is required for sustainable institutions and we’ve told them that privately.

“Last week also saw a failed attempt by the two governments to shape a media agenda as part of the public conditioning for that.

“However, what they should be doing if they want this process to succeed is to fulfil their responsibilities on the rights issues which need resolving.”
