24 October, 2017 - by Karen Mullan

Sinn Féin Education Spokesperson, Karen Mullan MLA has welcomed the announcement that the Rainbow Project in Derry has been awarded almost £500,000 from Big Lottery Fund’s Empowering Young People programme.

Karen Mullan said:

"I want to congratulate the Rainbow Project for their hard work and determination in drawing down such a significant funding package.

"The £496,161 package is great news for the LGBT+ community in the city, the funding is vital in promoting the health and well-being of our young people.

"It will also assist young people aged 14-25 to access employment, education and training with an opportunity to achieve an OCN Level 3 qualification.

"This project will include workshops led by young people, providing a massive boost to their personal development, educational skills and confidence to prepare for the challenges ahead and ensuring they reach their full potential."
