‘All should have access to education’ – Sinn Féin

26 October, 2017 - by Caoimhe Archibald

Everyone should be entitled to an equal chance to fulfil their potential within the education system, Sinn Féin MLA Caoimhe Archibald has said.

Addressing the Impact Forum for Adult Learning Conference in Belfast today, the Sinn Féin spokesperson for further and higher education urged a more collaborative approach to break down barriers within the education system.“

Building a strong education and a strong society means working to ensure that every one has an equal chance to fulfil his or her potential within the education system,” she commented.“

If we are to achieve that, then we must address the cycle of deprivation and poverty which attacks the life chances of too many of our people. This is Sinn Féin’s priority.

"Our focus is upon addressing those additional barriers to learning through a long-term approach to tackle entrenched social inequalities which very often underpins educational disadvantage.

"All parts of the education system should work together if we are going to break down the barriers of access between the different parts of the system.”
