Ennis welcomes removal of sectarian sign

6 November, 2017 - by Sinéad Ennis

Sinn Féin MLA Sinéad Ennis has condemned the erection of a sectarian sign erected outside Clough.

The South Down MLA said:

“The erection of this sign was a clear attempt of sectarian intimidation.

“I reported it as a hate crime to the PSNI on Friday night and asked for it to be removed.

“The sign caused great upset to people in the area and those passing by it. While I welcome its removal, it is disappointing that it took three days for the sign to be taken down.

“The PSNI should investigate this fully and anyone with information should bring it forward.

"Everyone should be able live free from harassment and intimidation and free from displays of racism, sectarianism and homophobia.”
