Sinn Féin seek more resources for schools

7 November, 2017 - by Catherine Kelly

Sinn Féin MLA Catherine Kelly has urged the Department of Education to ensure that school budgets are adequately resourced.

The party spokesperson for Children and Young People was commenting after 375 schools wrote to the British Secretary of State regarding difficulties in their budgets.

“I met senior departmental officials today to press for school budgets to be protected,” she commented.

“Children should not have to pay the price for Tory-Dup austerity.

“Pressure from Sinn Féin secured additional resources for the Education budget in July and October and it remains our position that school budgets should be adequately resourced.

“We will continue to argue for additional resources for education.”
