Dillon calls on PSNI to comply with Glenanne judgement

7 November, 2017 - by Linda Dillon

Sinn Féin Victims and Survivors spokesperson Linda Dillon said there can be no further delays into an effective and independent investigation into collusion between the British state and the loyalist Glenanne Gang.

Linda Dillon was speaking after the High Court ruled that the PSNI had to provide affidavit evidence to confirm there were no notes or minutes of meetings where the decision was taken to move from an over-arching investigation to individual cases.

Linda Dillon said:

“I welcome today’s judgement, it is a hugely pivotal day for the Glenanne families and their fight for justice.

“The court has ruled that the PSNI should now facilitate an effective and independent investigation promised to all these families.

“The court has also asked for the police to provide affidavit evidence to confirm that there were no notes or minutes of meetings where the decision was taken to move from an over-arching investigation to individual cases.

“The PSNI are not responding in the appropriate manner to the decision by Justice Treacy and are using delaying tactics by appealing decisions which they know in reality are the correct decisions.

“These kind of actions are undermining the confidence levels in the PSNI and new policing dispensation in the North.

“It is time that justice was no longer delayed to the families of Glenanne.

“I am calling on the PSNI to comply with the judgement and provide the necessary resources and facilitate an effective and independent investigation so that the families can get access to truth and justice.
