Imelda Munster TD welcomes suspension of rail strike

10 November, 2017 - by Imelda Munster TD

Sinn Féin Transport spokesperson Imelda Munster has welcomed news this evening that the unions have suspended their industrial action to allow members to ballot on recommendations from a Labour Court recommendation issued this afternoon.

Speaking this evening Teachta Munster said;

“This is a welcome development as all sides want to see an end to this dispute.  However, it remains to be seen if the Labour Court recommendation will be acceptable to all sides so we will have to wait and see.

‘The wider issue of the under-investment in our rail infrastructure remains to be addressed and this is something Sinn Féin will be raising with the Minister in the coming weeks.

“Once again we have had a situation in which workers have had to take to the picket lines in order to secure their basic entitlements and commuter have been left without a vital service without a word from our Transport Minister.  It simply isn’t good enough.”
