Sinn Féin to meet Taoiseach on Stormont Talks impasse

14 November, 2017 - by Michelle O'Neill

A Sinn Féin leadership delegation of Party President Gerry Adams TD, Vice President Mary Lou McDonald TD and party Leader in the North Michelle O’Neill MLA will meet with An Taoiseach Leo Varadkar and Minister Simon Coveney at Government Buildings tomorrow.

Commenting ahead of the meeting in Dublin Michelle O’Neill said:

“Following the failure of the latest phase of talks, there is now a responsibility on the two governments to address the issues of rights which are at the heart of the crisis.

“The way forward is for the two governments, as co-guarantors of the Good Friday and St Andrews Agreements, to honour outstanding commitments, and to deliver rights enjoyed by everyone else on these islands to citizens in the North.

“They should ensure a meeting of the British-Irish intergovernmental conference takes place as soon as possible to begin mapping a way forward for the implementation of outstanding agreements and guaranteeing the rights of citizens.

“This would pave the way for the Executive to be restored.”
