Sinn Féin Deputy Leader tells Tánaiste it’s time to go

Sinn Féin Deputy Leader Mary Lou McDonald TD has called on the Tánaiste Frances Fitzgerald to step down.The Dublin Central TD said:“The Dáil has spent a week discussing the email the Tánaiste received in May 2015, which outlined the malicious strategy, designed by the former Garda Commissioner Nóirín O’Sullivan and her legal team, to harm the reputation and the life of Sgt Maurice McCabe.“Today was the Tánaiste’s last chance to answer questions and to provide the necessary clarity. She failed to do so.“The Tánaiste’s failure to act when she was made aware of the plan to smear Maurice McCabe has not been, and cannot be, explained away.“The Tánaiste failed to discharge her duties when Minister for Justice. She failed Maurice McCabe. She must go.”ENDS
