New cruise ship terminal could transform tourism in north west - McCallion

6 December, 2017 - by Elisha McCallion

Sinn Féin MP Elisha McCallion has said proposals for a new cruise ship terminal at Foyle Port has the potential to transform the tourism industry in the north west.

The Foyle MP said:

"I met with representatives from Foyle Port to discuss plans to expand the facilities at the port in order to attract more cruise ships.

"This would involve the building of a new cruise ship terminal at the Greencastle side.

"Such a move would help attract more cruise ships, and consequently, more visitors to the north west.

"This proposal has the potential to significantly improve the tourism economy in the north west and make us a key destination on any cruise itinerary.

"I will continue to engage with Foyle Port in the time ahead as they progress this proposal."
