Gerry Adams TD commends work of Oireachtas Committee on Eighth Amendment
Sinn Féin President Gerry Adams TD speaking at the start of statements on the North this evening in the Dáil commended the work of the Oireachtas Committee on the Eighth Amendment.
The Sinn Féin leader said:
“I want to commend the decision by the Oireachtas Committee on the Eighth Amendment to recommend to the Oireachtas the repealing of Article 40.3.3 of the Constitution.
"I want to pay tribute to Committee Chair Senator Catherine Noone and to all of the Committee members and those who participated in the discussions and who gave evidence.
"I especially want to commend the Sinn Féin team of Louise O’Reilly TD, Senator Paul Gavan and Jonathan O’Brien TD for the manner in which they represented Sinn Féin.
"This is a very historic day especially for Irish women.”
