Gerry Adams TD expresses sympathy at the death of Peter Sutherland

Sinn Féin President Gerry Adams TD has this evening extended sympathy and condolences to the family of Peter Sutherland following his death today.

Teachta Adams said:

"Peter Sutherland had a long and distinguished career in public service, at home and abroad and served in roles as varied as that of Attorney General to Director General of the WTO.

"He had a successful business career and was a particularly keen advocate on behalf of refugees, serving admirably as United Nations' special representative on international migration.

"On my own behalf, and on behalf of Sinn Féin, I want to extend sympathy and condolences to his wife Maruja and his three children Shane, Ian and Natalia.
