Sinn Féin host meeting with senior health officials and mesh victims

11 January, 2018 - by Órlaithí Flynn

A Sinn Féin delegation consisting of Órlaithí Flynn MLA and Caoimhe Archibald MLA alongside a number of women injured by mesh met with the permanent secretary of health today. The party’s health spokesperson Óraithí Flynn said:“Today’s meeting was a good engagement."The department have acknowledged that they found it beneficial to hear first-hand the testimony of the women and the concerns they had including the ECR process, access to translabial scans and access to full removals.“The Department said that they would reflect the women’s testimony back to their colleagues in the Department, the Public Health Agency and to clinicians.“What is very clear following this meeting is the need to see action so that these women get the treatment and support they require and every necessary step is taken to prevent any women being injured by mesh in the future.”
