Dillon condemns desecration of the grave of Patrick Kelly

21 January, 2018 - by Linda Dillon

Sinn Féin MLA Linda Dillon has condemned the desecration of the grave in Edendork of IRA Volunteer Patrick Kelly.

Linda Dillon said:

“Two personal family plaques were stolen over recent days from the grave of Patrick Kelly in Edendork. One plaque had the names of Patrick’s children on them and the other contained a photograph of Patrick which was important to his family.

“I condemn those responsible for this theft in the strongest possible terms.

“All graveyards are sacred places which demand reverence and respect. People need to be respectful to the feelings of all victims as there is no hierarchy of grief.

“This theft is outrageous and does nothing other desecrate the grave and cause further distress to the Kelly family and their wider family circle.

“The family have said the only thing they want is for these precious personal items to be returned.”
