Maskey meets with Dutch embassy officials

31 January, 2018 - by Paul Maskey

Sinn Féin’s Paul Maskey MP today met with officials from the Dutch embassy in Westminster to discuss the impact of Brexit on Irish society, and the ongoing talks process in the north.

The West Belfast MP said:

“My meeting with Dutch diplomats today is part of Sinn Féin MPs’ ongoing international engagement efforts to make the post-Brexit case for Designated Special Status for the north of Ireland within the EU.

“Last week Sinn Féin MPs also met with officials from Swedish and Norwegian embassies to make the case for Designated Special Status.

“As a policy endorsed in Ireland by Sinn Féin and the broader political spectrum, civic society, sections of the business community, and expert legal opinion to ensure economic and rights protections, the international community are clearly eager to hear the case.

“As Sinn Féin MPs we’re routinely making the case for Designated Special Status in Dublin, London and Brussels.”
