Coillte must ensure that no partners are out of pocket - Martin Kenny TD
Sinn Féin spokesperson on Agriculture Martin Kenny TD has called on Coillte to communicate properly with its partners and to pay all monies due to them.
Deputy Kenny said:
“Reports today that Coillte partners who are awaiting payments are failing in their attempts to speak to someone at Coillte and are being fobbed off by staff, are very worrying.
"Raising the matter in the Dáil today, Deputy Kenny said that these issues must be addressed.
“Some of the land planted in forestry is very poor and so people who engage in forestry are depending on their payments to make ends meet.
“I appreciate the assurances of Gerard Murphy, the Coillte forestry managing director, made this morning on RTE.
"I hope that with the help of the recently commissioned accountancy firm, he can follow through on commitments to ensure that no one is left out of pocket and that all payments will be made in full in the next few months.”
