Sinn Féin seek assurances over pathway funding for early years

7 March, 2018 - by Catherine Kelly

Sinn Féin’s children and young people spokesperson Catherine Kelly has sought assurances from the Department of Education that the measures are put in place to ensure that groups who avail of pathway funding will able to access it in a sustainable manner.

The West Tyrone MLA said:

“A number of organisations have raised concerns to me regarding pathway funding for early years.

“The pathway fund aims to improve the development of children who are at risk of not reaching their full potential in the school system.

“Today we raised these concerns directly with the Education Department and sought assurances that the department will put in place measures to ensure groups are able to access funding in a sustainable manner.

“It is essential in order for these organisations to be able to provide first-class services to children who need them.

“I am pleased that the Education Department has said it is taking our recommendations under consideration.”
