Be part of building a new Ireland

‘Action needed on climate change’ - Boylan

8 March, 2018 - by Cathal Boylan

Sinn Féin Environment spokesperson Cathal Boylan has called for more to be done to combat climate change after the arctic recorded it's warmest winter on record.

Mr Boylan commented "It is time for us to get real about climate change and take appropriate steps to stop it's disastrous effects on our planet."

"What is happening in the artic is unprecedented and has most likely played a role in the recent extreme weather systems that have battered Ireland and Europe over the last week.

“The Sea ice levels have now hit a record low for this time of year according to new data revealed this week.

“We all need to do our part to stop the effects of climate change and that means moving away from fossil fuels, setting realistic but ambitious emissions targets and accepting that climate change is not a future theory, It is happening right now.”
