“Community must be the priority” in Metro North development – Dessie Ellis TD

20 June, 2018 - by Dessie Ellis TD

Sinn Féin TD for Dublin North-West Dessie Ellis has cautiously welcomed that the NTA is giving consideration to ideas that may lessen the impact on the community during the Metro North Development.

Deputy Ellis said;

“Last May I put forward a submission to the Metrolink Emerging Preferred Route consultation.

“I am happy that in my meetings with officials and others that some of my proposals are now being considered.

“It appears that the Northwood site which was the option I originally proposed at the Oireachtas committee meeting, as well as in the Dáil and in my submission to the NTA, is now being actively considered.

“Additionally, I have proposed that a Traffic Management Plan be developed to minimise the impact of the construction of Metro North on residents and commuters.

“I also proposed a Construction Management Plan be developed to minimise its impact on residents.

“However, the final decision on the submissions to the consultation process will come in towards the end of August.

“I fully support the development of Metro North but we must also be conscious of the impact the long-term construction work will have on our communities.  I would welcome any proposal from the NTA that will take account of the concerns that I and residents have raised.

“My proposals will have the least impact on the community and surrounding areas and I am delighted that they are being actively considered.”
