Archibald welcomes Claudy cycle loop

10 July, 2018 - by Caoimhe Archibald

Sinn Féin MLA Caoimhe Archibald has welcomed confirmation from Translink that the Department of Infrastructure have agreed to provide a cycle loop to service the bus stop in Claudy.

The East Derry MLA said:

“I recently contacted Translink after constituents raised the need for a cycle loop at the bus stop in Claudy to allow for commuters who wish to cycle to use public transport to be able to secure their bikes during the day.

"I am pleased that that the Department of Infrastructure Cycling Unit has agreed to provide a cycle loop to service the bus stop in Claudy.

“I also welcome that they will be looking into the possibility of cycle loops at other stops along the Derry to Belfast 212 route.

“This will help to make the 212 service more accessible and help encourage people to cycle or walk as part of their daily routine.

"It is important to have the necessary infrastructure in place when we are encouraging people to make changes to their routine to achieve health and environmental benefits, cycle loops are one simple step in the right direction.”
