O'Donnell condemns reckless and indiscriminate sectarian attack on homes in Short Strand
Sinn Féin councillor Mairead O’Donnell has condemned a reckless sectarian attack on homes in the Clandeboye area of the Short Strand after a device exploded in the street after being thrown over a wall at the interface.
Mairead O’Donnell said:
“This was a reckless indiscriminate attack on homes in Clandeboye and it’s fortunate that no one has been injured.
“Those responsible had no regard for life or limb and have nothing to offer the community other than death and destruction.
“I unreservedly condemn this sectarian attack on the residents of the Short Strand and I urge anyone with any influence in the community to come out strongly against those behind this cowardly attack.
“This attack has naturally raised tensions in the local community and I am calling on people to remain calm.
“The PSNI must do all in its power to prevent further attacks and Sinn Féin has been in contact with senior police officers to discuss what more needs to be done to keep people safe.”
