'Lack of integrity must be punished' - McGuigan

12 September, 2018 - by Philip McGuigan

With one week remaining until the North Antrim recall petition closes, Sinn Féin MLA Philip McGuigan has insisted there must be consequences for a lack of integrity in public office.

Speaking at the launch of a Sinn Féin campaign marking the final days of the petition, he urged the North Antrim public to demand better.

Philip McGuigan commented: “There are only seven days remaining until the petition closes and over that time, Sinn Féin will be publicising seven reasons why Ian Paisley should be ousted from office.

“These include his links to the brutal Sri Lankan regime as well as other scandals and of course his party’s involvement in everything from discrimination to the RHI debacle.

“We have been campaigning since the petition was launched and it is very clear that there is a huge deal of anger right across the constituency at both the DUP and Ian Paisley Jr.

“However, it’s important that people turn that anger into action by signing the petition and ensuring there are real consequences for a lack of integrity in public office.

“The fact is that if ten percent of the electorate here sign the petition he will be ousted and forever remembered as the MP who was forced out of office in shame.”
