Sinn Féin hosts Brexit health discussion

12 September, 2018 - by Pat Sheehan

Sinn Féin will tomorrow host a public discussion on the impact that Brexit will have on health services in the North.

Sinn Féin Health spokesperson MLA Pat Sheehan said:

“This is an important discussion on how Brexit could impact on health on patient care, on health care workers, cross-border services and access to medicines.

“Brexit will have a huge impact on the the north of Ireland – people here realise this, that's why the north of Ireland voted against Brexit.

“Brexit presents a serious threat to the provision of health and social care in the north of Ireland and to cross-border and All-Ireland health care.

“A hard border would represent particular problems for cross-border and All-Ireland health services, particularly in relation to freedom of movement of people including health workers.

“As Brexit draws ever closer we all have a responsibility to engage in public discussion in considering its implications for our health and social care services.” ENDS/CRÍOCH
