Government and Permanent TSB abandon over 6,000 families in latest sale to Vultures - Pearse Doherty TD
Sinn Féin Finance Spokesperson Pearse Doherty TD has said the government and Permanent TSB have abandoned over 6,000 families in the latest sale to vultures.
He said the government is 100% complicit in the sale, and that he is planning to introduce legislation in the coming weeks to block such sales.
The Donegal TD said:
“Each time there is a sale to vultures it sets a new precedent in government complicity. Project Glas was the first sale of family home loans by a State bank still in operation while today we see a State bank selling over 6,000 family home loans that it admits are meeting their restructuring arrangements.
"There is simply no willingness from Fine Gael or Fianna Fáil to stop these sales including the sale of family home loans. I will be tabling legislation in the coming weeks to put an end to the era of the vultures and protect family home loans.
"Banks should be made work through their individual loans and prevent them from selling them to vultures without the borrowers’ permission.
"I am disgusted at the attitude of Permanent TSB only a short time after their last sale was announced.
"Their arrogance and contempt for their customers is growing because they know this government is on their side.”
