Emma Sheerin becomes MLA for Mid Ulster
Sinn Féin deputy leader Michelle O’Neill has welcomed Emma Sheerin to the party’s Assembly team following her co-option as an MLA for Mid Ulster.
Michelle O’Neill said:
“Following a selection convention in Mid Ulster, the Sinn Féin Ard Chomhairle has approved the selection of Emma Sheerin for co-option as the constituency’s new MLA.
“Emma has worked tirelessly on behalf for the people of Mid Ulster as political adviser for Francie Molloy and I have no doubt she will continue this excellent work as an elected representative.
“I wish her well and look forward to working alongside her in building and shaping a new Ireland.”
Speaking after her official sign in, Emma Sheerin said:
"I am honoured and privileged to be co-opted as an MLA for Mid Ulster and look forward to working alongside my party colleagues.
"I would like to pay tribute to Ian Milne who has been and continues to be an inspiration to me and many others throughout the constituency.
“We are in a crucial time for politics. I will continue to stand up and defend the rights of citizens in the face of Brexit and the denial of rights as a result of the Tory/DUP pact.
“I look forward to playing my part as MLA for Mid Ulster to deliver a better future for all.” b
