Progress on Interim Single Farm Payments welcomed

18 November, 2005

Sinn Féin Agriculture Spokesperson, Fermanagh South Tyrone MP Michelle Gildernew has welcomed the announcement that interim payments under the Single Farm Payment Scheme should begin in December and that the interim payment will be 75% of the provisional total SFP.

Ms Gildernew said:

"In numerous meetings with Jeff Rooker Sinn Fein made it clear that the delay in making the SFP payments was unacceptable and that it would push even greater numbers of farmers over the edge.

"It is important that validation checks and inspections are completed as soon as possible and that the timetable outlining payments is published without delay." ENDS
