Gerry Adams to participate in Oslo Forum

23 June, 2006

Sinn Fein President Gerry Adams will be travelling to Oslo, Norway on Monday for two days to take part in the OSLO Forum 2006. The Forum brings together senior mediators from major peacemaking institutions and governments to discuss their different experiences and shared challenges.

The Forum is part of a series of Mediators' Retreats which is supported by the Norwegian government and the Centre for Humanitarian Dialogue in Switzerland.

Gerry Adams is a guest speaker and will address a session on 'Creating the conditions for Transformation from War to Peace: Conflict Party Perspectives'.

 Mr. Adams said:

"This is an important opportunity to speak to and listen to senior mediators from around the world who are currently involved in trying to resolve some of the worst conflicts currently taking place.

"When it comes to conflict resolution Sinn Féin doesn't pretend to have all the answers but we do have an experience which we are happy to talk to others. We are more than happy to try and shape conflict resolution processes elsewhere." ENDS
