Morgan welcomes ICTU decision to defer strike action

Reacting to ICTU’s decision to defer strike action planned for next week Sinn Féin workers’ rights spokesperson Arthur Morgan TD has welcomed the move and said the Government must now play its part in preventing further industrial unrest by introducing a budget based on fairness and equity.
Deputy Morgan said, “I welcome this brave move by ICTU and congratulate them for their efforts to fight for fairness and equity for workers throughout the state.
“The Government must now match ICTU’s commitment to the partnership process by bringing forward a budget that is based on the pillars of fairness and equity.
“If the Government brings forward yet another budget that targets disproportionately workers and vulnerable sections of society then inevitably further industrial action will result and the blame for the economic implications of such actions will lie fairly and squarely at the doors of Government.” ENDS
