Niall is an avid Irish Language activist and has campaigned widely for the attainment of an Irish Language Act. It is no surprise that Niall was elected to the Board of An Droichead Teo, South and East Belfast's Irish Language and Cultural initiative Centre.
Creideann Niall go bhfuil an Ghaeilge mar chroílár de na buntáistí atá ag Béal Feirste mar chathair agus ba chóir comhionannas a thabhairt dár dteanga dhúchais.
Despite his youthfulness he has been involved in politics for many years, having joined Ógra Shinn Féin when he was 16 years old. Practically a political veteran now he is involved in many groups and organisations in the local community. He holds a number of positions, including board member of the Short Strand Partnership, board member of An Droichead, a member of Short Strand Festival Committee, Member of the Belfast National Graves Committee and a member of Sinn Féin's internal housing advisory group.
