Waterford - David CULLLINANE
David Cullinane is the father of three year old Emmet and is married to Kathleen Funchion. David has roots in the city and the county with his mother Bernadette born in Waterford City and his father William in Bunmahon, Co. Waterford. He has two brothers, Adrian and Keith and a sister Jacqueline.
As a public representative David has earned a reputation as an honest, hard working and committed campaigner on behalf of the people of Waterford. Since becoming a Sinn Féin councillor on Waterford City Council he has consistently used that forum to highlight the Government’s neglect of this city and county and articulate policies that can revive the economic and social fortunes of Waterford. He provides a first class constituency service with weekly clinics in Waterford. He is proud to represent the people of Waterford and is enthusiastic about its potential. He believes in the spirit and the ability of the Waterford people.
In 2009 David published comprehensive proposals aimed at getting Waterford people back to work. He can see the wasted talent of 14,500 people unemployed and has ideas on creating employment. He is the chairperson of an economic development committee of the Waterford City Development Board ‘Doing it for ourselves’ and is actively working to create employment in the city. Through his ideas he has helped in establishing forums on the I.T and Digital Media, Green Enterprise and Horticulture sectors. He also sees agri-business and tourism as key economic drivers in the county.
He is also a long time campaigner on the issue of drug abuse in the city and county. He is a leading voice in standing up for communities against the scourge of drugs. He understands the problems and works with community based groups to provide real solutions. He is a member of the Larchville and Lisduggan Community Development Project and is rooted in his local community.
David is a proud Waterford man. He is committed to delivering a better quality of life and a bright future of the people of this constituency.
