Fianna Fáil’s sly approach to water charges fooling no-one – Maurice Quinlivan TD

28 September, 2016 - by Maurice Quinlivan TD

Sinn Féin TD for Limerick and party spokesperson for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation Maurice Quinlivan has accused Fianna Fáil of hypocrisy when it comes to water charges.

Speaking during debate on the Sinn Fein motion to abolish the charges, Deputy Quinlivan said:

“It is unbelievable to think we are still debating this issue.

“Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael are to blame for this as they continue to ignore the fact that ordinary people are opposed to water charges and want them abolished.

“So it is not good enough for Fianna Fáil to come into the House today and vote against the Sinn Féin motion.

“The only reason water charges have not been abolished before now is because of their  political manoeuvring.

“Fianna Fáil’s aim is to get as much political capital out of this issue as possible and their sly  approach to water charges is there for all to see.

“This is business as usual for them as their quest for political power is once again put before the needs of ordinary people.

“Water charges is a huge issue for people in Limerick and across Ireland and they will not be fooled by Micheal Martin’s and Fianna Fáil’s two-faced political antics on the issue”.
