Sinn Féin’s Kathleen Funchion meets Britain’s Prince Charles
Sinn Féin TD for Carlow/Kilkenny Kathleen Funchion today met with Britain’s Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall Camilla at Kilkenny Castle.
Speaking after the meeting Teachta Funchion said;
“As a Sinn Féin TD, as Chair of the Oireachtas Good Friday Agreement Implementation Committee and as joint chair of the British Irish Inter Parliamentary Association, I believe that If we are to promote reconciliation we must demonstrate respect.
“While I acknowledge that this is a difficult issue for some republicans I believe that it is the right thing to do.
“This is about building on the work of Martin McGuinness and others.
“It is about demonstrating that in our vision of a new and united Ireland all identities and traditions will be respected.”
