Sinn Féin meet with Brokenshire on Patsy Kelly case
Sinn Féin MPs Barry McElduff and Francie Molloy accompanied the family of murdered Councillor Patsy Kelly to Westminster today for a series of engagements, including a meeting with British Secretary of State, James Brokenshire.
The family also submitted a petition to the British Prime Minister at 10 Downing St calling for truth and justice around the murder of Councillor Kelly, last seen at a UDR checkpoint, in 1974.
Barry McElduff MP said:
“Today was an important step in the Kelly family’s 43-year long campaign for truth and justice.
“While our engagement with James Brokenshire was important, the continued refusal of the British MoD to even respond to the Kelly family’s repeated request for information or to agree a meeting signals a staggering level of arrogance and disrespect towards the Kelly family.
“The British government must face up to its role and responsibility for the actions of British state forces and their loyalist proxies.”
