Kearney calls on PSNI to send out strong message against hate crime

11 July, 2018 - by Declan Kearney

Sinn Féin MLA Declan Kearney has tonight called on the PSNI to remove posters from a loyalist bonfire in Stoneyford to prevent a hate crime being committed.

Declan Kearney said:

“Earlier today election posters of nationalist representatives were placed on the loyalist bonfire at Stoneyford, South Antrim.

“I have contacted senior PSNI officers and made a formal complaint.

“I have demanded the immediate removal of these posters before a hate crime is perpetrated and requested that senior officers provide me with an urgent report further to my formal representation.

“I will continue to press the PSNI to do the right thing and send out a strong message that there is no tolerance of sectarian hate crime in this society, and particularly that the PSNI will discharge its statutory duties.”
