Statement on behalf of the Toland and Cooley families

Speaking on behalf of the Toland and Cooley families, Sinn Féin Assembly Member Raymond McCartney has who is accompanying them in Thailand has said that the family of Aaron Toland and Chris Cooley wish to acknowledge those members of the media who have respected their privacy during this traumatic.

Mr McCartney said:

"The Toland and Cooley families wish to thank everyone who helped and supported them over the last number of days. The way the community rallied around following the devastating news from Thailand on Sunday was a particular source of comfort.

Speaking about arrangements for the journey home Mr McCartney said;

"Aaron's body will arrive at Dublin Airport around lunch time Friday 21st September and will then make the journey to his home in Derry. Further funeral arrangements will be announced later.

"The family of Chris Cooley have visited Chris and spoken to the doctors. Chris continues to make good progress and is expected to make a full recovery. The Cooley family will give further details as they feel necessary. At the moment their thoughts and prayers are with the Toland family." ENDS
