Morgan demands answers from Transport Chief

18 October, 2007

During this morning Dáil Order of Business Sinn Féin TD Arthur Morgan has demanded that the Minister for Transport Noel Dempsey come to the chamber to explain the Aer Lingus revelations regarding his department in today's media.

Deputy Morgan said:

"Minister Dempsey needs to explain to the house how senior officials in his Department were aware that Aer Lingus intended to move Shannon routes to Belfast a full six weeks before the government was aware of the decision.

Deputy Morgan added:

"Considering the level of correspondence coming out of the Transport Chiefs office on the issue and a clear acceptance of the political nature of the airlines decision it is really hard to fathom how the entire government was kept in the dark for the following full six weeks." CRÍOCH
