"Urgent meeting needed between DETI Minister, Invest NI and Enterprise committee"- Maskey SF
Sinn Féin MLA and Enterprise Committee Vice Chair Paul Maskey has requested a meeting between the DETI Minister Nigel Dodds, Invest NI and the assembly Enterprise, Trade and Investment committee to request answers over the devastating job losses in Co Derry.
Mr Maskey said:
"The recent news regarding the Seagate job losses has serious ramifications for the local economy and I have requested a meeting with not only the Minister but also Invest NI officials to discuss the future synergy in employment for the area.
"Questions must also be answered over the handling of this matter, what measures were taken to prevent this, how much money was given to Seagate, is this money retrievable, can Invest NI safeguard the jobs at the other Seagate Plant and will the current staff at Seagate be re-skilled to enhance their future employment opportunities."
