McGuinness condemns shooting of off-duty policeman
Sinn Féin deputy First Minister Martin McGuinness has condemned the shooting of an off-duty policeman in Dungannon, County Tyrone and said that those who carried out this shooting will not succeed in plunging us back into conflict.
Mr McGuinness said:
"I totally condemn the shooting of an off duty police officer this evening in Dungannon.
"Anyone with information regarding this shooting or the one last week in Derry should bring it forward to the police.
"These people have no popular support and no strategy to achieve a United Ireland.
"These people are attempting to plunge our society back into conflict. I am confident that the vast majority of people here will ensure that this does not happen." ENDS
