Sinn Féin call on people to fully support Quinn investigation

14 November, 2007

Sinn Féin MP for Newry and Armagh Conor Murphy today called for people to fully support the Gardaí and the PSNI with the job of bringing the killers of Paul Quinn to justice.

Mr Murphy said:

"The Gardaí and the PSNI have the job of arresting and placing before the courts those responsible for this brutal murder. We support them completely in this work. We have publicly called on anyone with information to bring it forward to allow due process and justice for the Quinn family.

"Since the murder of Paul Quinn some unionist and SDLP politicians, criminal elements, and some former republican activists, have sought to exploit this dreadful killing to undermine Sinn Féin and damage the political process. Their motivation has not been to achieve justice and truth for this family.

"As Sinn Féin have said repeatedly it is evidence not speculation that is needed to convict the killers of Paul Quinn. Stunts in the British House of Lords or false briefings to the media, or attacks on innocent people in their homes do not serve the search for justice or truth." ENDS
