16 November, 2007

Sinn Féin MLA and chair of the Public Accounts Committee John O Dowd has asked the Permanent Sectetary of the Department of Finance and Personnel to supply him with details of how any percieved conflict of interest is dealt with in regards to the Strategic Investment Board and their use of consultants of which SIB board members are also members.

He said,

'The Strategic Investment Board (SIB) made payments to the firm of its director James Stewart, who is also chief of a public private partnership; Partnerships UK plc (PUK)

'I am demanding answers into what could be perceived as a conflict of interest.

'To this end I took the opportunity yesterday at the Public Accounts committee, which was dealing with the use of Consultants, to quiz the permanent secretary of the Department of Finance and Personnel on the percieved conflict of interests at the SIB and I await a full written response." Deireadh
