Sinn Féin Councillors to join Derry DPP
Councillor Lynn Fleming has described the party's forthcoming participation on the Derry District Policing Partnership as 'a welcome opportunity to bring accountable and proper policing to the citizens of the city and district'.
Cllr. Fleming said:
"At the monthly Council meeting Sinn Féin will be nominating 4 of our Councillors to take their places on the Derry DPP in line with the precise definition of D'Hondt as laid down by the Policing Board.
"Our representatives will take onto the DPP the clear mandate given to them by an electorate which endorses the Sinn Féin position on policing and which demands a service which is impartial, effective and accountable to the community which it has a responsibility to serve.
"Sinn Féin will bring to the DPP levels of scrutiny and accountability that thus far have been missing and we are determined to use this opportunity to bring about a genuinely new beginning to policing for the people of Derry." ENDS
