Action plan to tackle spiralling cocaine urgently required - Ó Snodaigh
Sinn Féin TD and party spokesperson on Community Safety Aengus Ó Snodaigh has called on government to immediately resource and implement a strategy to tackle the growing cocaine crisis in Ireland.
Deputy Ó Snodaigh said today,
"The 21st party in Waterford that ended with a number of young people in hospital critically ill highlights what Sinn Féin and communities throughout the State have been saying over the last number of years. There is an alarming rise in cocaine abuse in this State.
"What we now need to see is the development, resourcing and implementation of a strategy to deal with this ever growing crisis. The previous Fianna Fáil/Progressive Democrat Government voted down a Sinn Féin Private Members motion in May of last year which called for an action plan to combat spiraling cocaine use. It is imperative that the current government does not make the same mistakes.” CRIOCH
