Sinn Féin to hold major conference in Dublin this weekend

Sinn Féin will hold a major conference 'Engaging Modern Ireland' this Sunday December 9th in Griffith College Dublin.

This follows intensive consultation within the party in the aftermath of the General Election in the 26 Counties to agree on Sinn Féin's priorities for the coming years.

Several key issues will be addressed at the conference including: Economic Development, Community Safety and Policing, Climate Change and New Irish, New Communities.

Each section will be addressed by a number of invited speakers and party delegates will also be participating in the debate.

The conference will be addressed by senior party representatives including Caoimhghín Ó Caoláin TD, Mary Lou McDonald MEP, Senator Pearse Doherty, Bairbre de Brún MEP and Alex Maskey MLA. Tere will be a keynote address from party President Gerry Adams outlining the way forward for republicans.

A number of guest speakers will also address the conference: Liam Nellis - Chief Executive Intertrade Ireland; Michael Halpenny - SIPTU National Industrial Secretary; Al Hutchinson - Policing Ombudsman in the Six Counties; Dr. Rowan Fealey - senior researcher with the Irish Climate Analysis and Research Unit; Salome Mbugua - Chairperson of AkiDwA - African Women's Network; Kazik Anhalt - SIPTU's Polish Organiser.
