Republicans prepare for ground-breaking meeting in Dublin this weekend

Sinn Féin Chairperson Mary Lou McDonald has described this weekend’s party conference as a ground breaking meeting which will set out the party’s future direction and political priorities.  Among the key issues being discussed at the conference will be building the economy and community safety and policing.

The conference will take place in Griffith College Dublin on Sunday 9th and begins at 11am.

Ms. McDonald said:

“On Sunday republicans from across Ireland will gather for a ground breaking meeting which will set out the party’s future direction and political priorities.  This conference, ‘Engaging Modern Ireland’, is the culmination of six months of consultation both inside and outside the party and there will be a number of important contributions from senior party figures and a number of invited speakers.

“There will be a keynote address from Gerry Adams which will set out some of the key conclusions from the consultation and the new and challenging role for republicans in modern Ireland.”

“We have invited a range of speakers to address the conference including Liam Nellis, the Chief Executive of Intertrade Ireland, Al Hutchinson, the Policing Ombudsman for the Six Counties, Michael Halpenny from SIPTU and Salome Mbugua, the head of the African Women’s Network.  ENDS
