MEPs discuss de Brún's report on PEACE Programme
MEPs from across Europe today discuss Sinn Féin MEP Bairbre de Brún's report on Ireland's PEACE Programme. Ms de Brún's report sets out the parliament's evaluation of the EU funded programme for Peace and Reconciliation to date as well as mapping out future strategies.
Speaking from Brussels where the discussion takes place Ms de Brún stated "I was extremely pleased to have been appointed by the Regional Development Committee to write the parliament's report on PEACE and have enjoyed engaging with groups in Ireland involved in PEACE to get their input."
MEPs are expected to finally vote the report early next year in Strasbourg.
Ms de Brún concluded "This report allows MEPs and other actors in the EU to learn of the good work funded by PEACE and IFI and I am confident that this can guarantee their continued support in the years to come. It will also draw general lessons that can be useful in other areas and in other programmes."
