Sinn Féin MLA welcomes first ever Irish signage for North Antrim

3 January, 2008

Sinn Féin North Antrim MLA Daithí Mc Kay has welcomed the introduction of bi-lingual street signage for the first time for the North Antrim area.

Mr Mc Kay said,

"Recently Ballymoney council approved three bi-lingual street signs for Glebe Park- Rasharkin, Scally Park- Loughgiel and Bellaghy Park-Dunloy for the first time.

"I believe this is an apt introduction for the area. The revival of the Irish language has been this area's success story in recent times.

"Bi-lingualism, a non-contraversial issue around the world, must be welcomed and should be the property of all." Deireadh/Ends
