McLaughlin condemns Rathenraw pipe bomb attack

10 January, 2008

Sinn Féin Spokesperson, Mitchel McLaughlin MLA (South Antrim) has condemned those who planted a pipe bomb at a home in the Rathenraw Estate.

Mitchel McLaughlin said:

"I unreservedly condemn the actions of whoever planted this device at a home in the Rathenraw Estate in South Antrim. I have known the intended target for a number of years and I send her my best wishes. There are a number of young children in this home and those responsible obviously have no concern whatever for the lives of anyone including children.

"Those responsible need to accept that they are only a very tiny minority who have yet to accept that the war is over and everyone's energy should now be directed at building a political order in which everybody, regardless of their political, religious or ethnic background are free to pursue their political aspirations based on the principle of equality and respect."
